What we are doing now High Court victory for Black women’s group (24/07/08) Users of Southall Black sisters (SBS) have won their case against Ealing Council for its failure to have proper regard to existing equality legislation, especially the Race Relations Act, in reaching its decision to withdraw the SBS funding. One Society Many Cultures campaign update (22/07/08) NAAR and UNISON will hold a joint fringe meeting at this year's Labour Party Conference in Manchester on 21 September at 5pm. Confirmed speakers so far are Ken Livingstone, Keith Vaz MP and Mohammed Azam, the Co-Chair of NAAR. UK Black Pride 2008 (8/7/08) UK Black Pride (UKBP) has announced the launch of ticket sales for this year's festival taking place on Saturday, 16 August at Regents College, Regents Park, London. There’s an early bird offer of 30% discount off the standard ticket price until midnight Sunday, 20 July. UNISON is a major sponsor of this event. Timetable for National Black Members’ Conference (1/7/08) The National Black Members' Conference 2009 will be held at the Bristol City Centre Marriott, Bristol from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 January. The deadlines for submitting motions and amendments to the 2009 National Black Members’ Conference have now been agreed. The conference bulletin will be sent out to branches later this month. EDM 1816: Promoting Multiculturalism (20/06/08) An Early Day Motion regarding promoting multiculturalism (EDM 1816) has been tabled in Parliament by Keith Vaz MP on behalf of UNISON. One Society Many Cultures - Photographic Competition (13/6/08) The National Assembly Against Racism with the public services trade union, UNISON, invite you to enter a national photographic competition. Taskforce to Address the Under Representation of Black People Women Councillors (23/05/08) A new taskforce has been launched to help more Black and Asian women to become councillors and so make councils more representative of the community.
