Our members include teaching assistants, nursery staff, administrators, secretaries, policy officers, technicians, cleaners, caretakers, school meals workers - in fact anyone working in schools or supporting education.

University of Salford hosts first North West launch event to celebrate next year's LGBT History Month

Disability Equality Implementation Group

(15/01/2009) Lifelong Learning UK established the Disability Equality Implementation Group (DEIG) alongside representatives from the lifelong learning sector, to take forward the recommendations of the Commission for Disabled Staff in Lifelong Learning.

(15/01/2009) The Race Advisory Group is running a series of consultation events in the next coupe of months throughout the UK. The staff consultation events will be looking at staff experiences in relation to race equality.

Visible and Valued - Free DVD on LGB Equality

(15/01/2009)UNISON is part of The Forum for sexual orientation and gender reassignment in lifelong learning. The forum has just produced a training DVD will help further education and skills providers develop practical approaches to delivering sexual orientation equality, and to meet the requirements of equality legislation.

(15/01/2009) A series of training events for senior managers run by SKILL on supporting disabled staff in the Lifelong Learning Sector are being held Seminars will take place in each of the nine English regions and in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, between December 2008 and March 2009. There is no cost for attending these valuable training events.

Joint union pay and conditions claim for further education colleges 2010/11

The joint trade unions call on the AoC to recommend that colleges pay a 3.5% increase on all salaries and allowances from 1 August 2010 with a £1,000 underpinning.
