Agenda for Change

Agenda for Change is the name given to the new NHS national pay and grading system. It was introduced in 2004 to harmonise pay and terms and conditions for all NHS workers other than doctors. The system was negotiated by government health departments and UNISON, together with other health unions.

Unsocial hours consultative ballot result

Ballot sees 83% Yes vote for new unsocial hours payments

UNISON to ballot members on new unsocial hours payments

(21/01/08) The NHS Staff Council has now agreed a proposal for a harmonised and universal scheme of payments for staff working during unsocial hours. UNISON members are now being given the opportunity to vote on whether UNISON should vote to accept this new scheme at the Staff Council.

Interim increase in regular user car mileage rates secured

UNISON has secured a 10% uplift in car mileage rates for NHS staff using cars for work purposes. The new rates will apply (at this stage in England only) from 1st January 2008. The Staff Council is currently conducting a review of all mileage allowances and will consider the outcome in March 2008. The new rates will apply until the review uis completed. (05/11/07) UNISON has made the case for a substantial above-inflation pay increase for NHS staff in 2008

New NHS rates of pay 2007/2008

NHS pay circular on new rates of pay for 2007/2008. The attached pay circular has been issued by NHS Employers to all NHS employing organisations in England. This should be in good time to ensure the new rates are paid in November.
