Agenda for Change

Knowledge & Skills Framework

What is the NHS Knowledge & Skills Framework?
The NHS KSF is a system for describing the knowledge and skills that NHS staff need to apply in their work. It is one of the three key strands within Agenda for Change. These are:

  1. the NHS KSF and the development review process;
  2. job evaluation; and
  3. terms and conditions.

What is the purpose of the KSF?
The NHS KSF and development review process is about lifelong learning. The Agenda for Change national agreement includes a commitment to introduce a system of annual development reviews and to create development opportunities of all staff.
