Academies Bill campaigning

UNISON is continuing to campaign vigorously against the Academies Bill (England) which the coalition government is seeking to rush through Parliament before the summer recess.

The Bill is seeking to fast-track schools without local consultation towards Academy status which is outside all local authority oversight, education regulation and national pay and conditions agreements.

The TUC education unions have produced a series of joint materials to lobby politicians, parents, head teachers and governing bodies.

These are available on the Link to another page on this website UNISON website, which will be updated regularly with campaign news.

We ask that branches get involved in contacting their local MPs and that, in addition, the campaign materials are forwarded to any members who might be school governors.
