Administration of medicine

UNISON is concerned that members working with children are increasingly expected to administer medicines and are being encouraged by their employer to be involved in a range of medical procedures. Where non-medical staff are expected to carry out such duties, clear guidelines should be in place to protect both the staff and the child. UNISON has produced guidance to help safety representatives and stewards in their discussions with employers on this issue
