Health Care

UNISON is the major union in the health service. Its health care service group represents more than 400,000 employees in the NHS and staff employed by private contractors, the voluntary sector and general practitioners.

Nurses, midwives, occupational therapists, admin staff, cleaning, catering, porters, laundry workers are just some examples of the UNISON members who, together, make our health service work. Most of these work directly for the National Health Service but many also work in privatised and Public Finance Initiative (PFI) companies.
