Breast Cancer Care Strawberry Tea (updated 9/6/2010)

(9/06/10) UNISON women’s conference supports the work of Breast Cancer Care and is campaigning to raise awareness, increase funding, improve services and encouraging branches to negotiate workplace policies to support women undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Hundreds or people are told they have breast cancer every week. And thousands rely on the support of Breast Cancer Care.

You can be there for every one of them, by hosting a Strawberry Tea.

A summer fundraiser with sweet treats, a Strawberry Tea is a great excuse to catch up with your colleagues, family and friends. And it can be as simple or fancy as you want it to be. Whether you open up a packet or custard creams or turn your office into The Ritz, it’s all for a good cause - helping the hundreds and thousands of people who are affected by breast cancer every year.

Janet Macmillan, a business support officer for the NHS in Glasgow, was one of thousands of people who organized a Strawberry Tea in her office last year.

“We had a great day at our tea party. Lots of people baked cakes & we also bought a lot which we sold not only in our office, to the rest of the businesses in our office block. Staff also donated prizes which we raffled off & I managed to do a sponsored silence for 1 whole hour - much to the relief of the staff. Our day was a total success, mainly thanks to the sweet toothed & generous staff. We managed to raise £758.”
